As a trombonist, Paul Nowell has shared the stage with Arethra Franklin, Jimmy Heath, Conrad Herwig, Pete Christlieb, Don Braden, The Spinners, James Moody, Frankie Avalon, Bobby Rydell, Fabian, The Temptations, Four Tops, Gary Puckett, Lucien Barbarin, Richie Ray, Ernie Krivda, Phil Wilson, Aaron Weinstein, Andy Hunter, and Dominick Farinacci. At the age of nineteen, while playing with his own group at a jazz club in Cleveland, Paul was approached by Duke Ellington's nephew, Ron Ellington Shy of the Drifters and Coasters fame. Immediately after, Nowell and his band began working with Ellington Shy on arrangements for an engagement at the Pickwick and Frolic venue. Paul was also chosen to play with Chico Hamilton for the 2004 Tri-C Jazz Festival. In 2008, he played trombone for Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan on his Tony award winning (2010 Best Musical) "Memphis" before its departure to Broadway.
Paul is also known as, "Paul The Trombonist". On YouTube Paul's videos have reached a world wide audience totaling a quarter million people.
Nowell is a graduate from Berklee College of Music and has studied with some of the finest trombonists alive such as Phil Wilson, Andy Hunter, Jeff Galindo, Hal Crook, Karin Harris, Mark Mauldin, Bill Yeager and Scott Kyle. It is due to their amazing direction that Paul has developed the warm, full-bodied trombone sound and unique melodic interpretation that he has today. His debut CD is now available. Paul currently resides in Los Angeles and is busy as a Producer/Songwriter, freelance trombonist, and video maker. He has a deep passion for teaching and finished his masters at SDSU where he directed an ensemble. He has also been seen with the Dile Salsa Orquesta, Cleveland Salsa Allstar's, Orquesta Nissi, Orquesta Tabaco y Ron, Big Band Jazz Machine, Greg Hopkins Concert Jazz Orchestra, Kicks Band, Ernie Krivda and the Fat tuesday Bigband, Kalido-Skopio, Bill Caballero's Mambo Orchestra,The Sugar Daddies, the Vintage Monster band and Phil Wilson's Rainbow band. He recently just got done touring world wide with the famous Glenn Miller Orchestra.
